Construction of Building

Building on the idea of 'play', and attempting to incorporate it into my film I decided to create my own building, and Initially I considered a few ways of how to construct my own building:

-I first considered painting another building which I could then film, but I thought that it might become too flat.

-Then perhaps building a scale model building from scratch which I could then film.

-I also considered creating a 3D animation of a building.

I then decided to try painting a cardboard box as the building just to get a visual idea. I found that I really enjoyed painting the box, and it also added the 3D element which would have been lacking on just a painting.

This way I would be incorporating my painting, while also easily allowing the building to look more 3D as it is 3D and casts shadows, and gives more depth.

I then edited my image of the box onto a sky background- attempting to add more realism, ultimately resulting in an interesting blend between naturalism and imaginary. I really like the idea of combining naturalistic elements with imaginative, as it holds the potential to playfully communicate my ideas.
