First lesson

Without having. much prior knowledge to the groups themes and concepts, I was able to immediately draw connections to the class notes which were previously taken.

The first thing I thought when I saw the head piece they were working on I thought it look very organic. Almost like a sea creature or plant or organism; the movement of the yarn replicating swishing and swaying movements, the colours of the different textured yarns were very rustic, and organic such as mauves, deep reds, browns, dark greens, greys, with some pops of white.

They also had some red beads on the headpiece which sounded great however because they were bright red and shiny I thought it looked too 'Christmassy' and I suggested that perhaps we could tuck them underneath the headpiece so that we could still hear its beautiful jangles and odd noises yet we couldn't see what was making those noises- it was mysterious and fed into this obscure sea-like figure.

When class started we had to present what developments we had made earlier that day and so Kira tried on the headpiece and walked around the room, Kate and Kane were not too keen on the slow delicate motions that Kira was making and wanted something perhaps a bit livelier, therefore I suggested that perhaps Kira jumped rather than swayed, and the class really liked it and responded well to my suggestion. It accentuated the draping yarns, and gave powerful, lively bounces to the costume, rather than dull heavy movements. - It almost came to life, like a creature awakening. We were also more able to hear the beads now which added another mystery to the large figure and gave auditory stimulation.
